CITYCENTERDC ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY 2017 PROGRAM
Fourth Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration kicks off season November 25
WASHINGTON, DC (November 13, 2017) – CityCenterDC, the District’s premiere luxury destination, is thrilled to announce its eagerly anticipated holiday programming for 2017. The landmark, mixed-used development is a magical place during the holidays with its imaginative décor, festive atmosphere and unparalleled retail and dining offerings.
The season will officially kick off November 25 at 6 p.m. with the Fourth Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration in The Park at CityCenter. Touting one of the largest trees in the city, the dazzling 75-foot tree will be decked with more than 150,000 lights and 4,500 ornaments. The joyous celebration, emceed by NBC4 Anchor Eun Yang, will include performances by Baltimore’s viral sensation, Cardinal Shehan School Choir, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington. “We are delighted to continue to enhance our holiday experience,” says Timothy R. Lowery, general manager of CityCenterDC. “With something for the entire family, the tree lighting celebration has fast become one of the District’s favorite holiday traditions.”
Known for its world-class brands and restaurants including Hermès, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Bulgari, David Yurman, Gucci and several others, CityCenterDC delights in creating a wonderland each year for the entire community to enjoy. In addition to the larger-than-life tree, discover the two impressive 25-foot tall reindeer made from 37,000 manzanita twigs in the plaza and the “Dream Closet” installation by Maggie O’Neil of Swatchroom that transforms Palmer Alley into a whimsical corridor filled with imaginative, modern holiday ornaments.
Adding on to the holiday festivities this year, CityCenterDC will present several new elements:
- ICE LOUNGE – A life-size, modern, ice igloo made of 36,000 pounds of ice blocks, will pop-up in The Park at CityCenter. Styled with plush interiors by Joseph Ireland of JD Ireland Interior Architecture + Design, this one-of-a-kind, frozen structure will allow Washingtonians to fulfill their subzero dreams for a weekend. Opens December 1 at 4 p.m. and will also be open to the public December 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Follow along on social media with the hashtag #CCDCHolidays.
- EARTH HARP – William Close, renowned for affixing 1,000-foot strings to skyscrapers, mountain peaks and canyon walls, will fill CityCenterDC with the magical musical stylings of his Earth Harp. Join us for this surreal holiday musical performance on December 16, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in The Plaza at CityCenter.
