First Ever Festival of Tulips arrives in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 7, 2018) –    Spring is only a few weeks away, according to Punxsutawney Phil.  As the Nation’s Capital prepares for warmer weather and the 105th Anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, CityCenterDC is thrilled to announce its springtime programming. In addition to the best-in-class luxury shopping and dining available at CityCenterDC, the landmark, mixed-used development is also known for its enchanting installations and experiences that transform downtown D.C. into a seasonal oasis.

This spring, CityCenterDC will delight the District with Bloomia’s Field of Tulips, the first ever festival of tulips in the city. The whimsical and interactive installation will allow visitors to get lost in an urban field of more than 40,000 tulips in The Park at CityCenter.  Presented in partnership with Bloomia—an innovative, sustainable flower producer with state-of-the-art greenhouses in Northern Virginia, Chile, and South Africa—the Field of Tulips will take place from Friday, March 23 through Saturday, March 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The best part is that entry into the garden is free of charge and the tulips may be taken home for $1 a stem with a portion of all proceeds benefiting DC Central Kitchen.

Don’t worry, if you can’t make it to see the Field of Tulips, Bloomia will also host a pop-up flower shop, Bloomia Market, from March 15 – April 15 with an assortment of flowers for any occasion. Open Monday-Sunday in The Park at CityCenter.

Bringing back a seasonal tradition, the imaginative Palmer Alley overhead installations have become a favorite for locals and tourists alike. This season’s display, with a bright concept that will embody the spirit of the Cherry Blossom festival and is inspired by one of the festival’s largest events, will not disappoint. To welcome the new season, CityCenterDC contracted with Design Foundry, a local design firm, to design and create this new concept. Visit Palmer Alley starting on March 20 to discover the exciting new installation.

Building upon CityCenterDC’s mission to support the surrounding community, retailers at the project will participate in Make March Matter, in support of Children’s National Medical Center. On March 16-17, shop at David YurmanKate Spade New YorkMorgenthal FredericsVince and Zadig & Voltaire to show support. Donations made will help build awareness and support children’s medical care. Families and guests are invited to enjoy a weekend full of activities where you can compete in a One Hole Mini Golf Challenge, paint a cherry blossom masterpiece or even sweat it out for charity with FlyWheel Sports. Patrons will also have the opportunity to donate blood on the bloodmobile. Please visit CityCenterDC.com/Event for more information and to make an appointment.
