STYLE GUIDE

Striped All Over

The perennial pattern that always feels fresh? Stripes, and the SS24 season was proof. A wealth of banded prospects—reimagined shirting, technicolor trench coats, oversized knits and the like—popped up across the fashion month calendar. The most notable versions? Candy-hued skirt sets from Chanel and sunny escape-suited shirt dresses at Louis Vuitton, both primed for the seasonal RSVPs ahead.

STYLE GUIDE

Elevated Elegance

You know those style mavens who always manage to look so effortlessly put together without ever trying too hard? That sense of sartorial je ne sais quoi was prevalent in the latest collections. If you can’t quite put your finger on this nebulous direction, let the runways speak for themselves: sophisticated looks at Carolina Herrera and Dior grounded by anything-but-basic white shirting and complemented by a highly practical set of neutral separates. The results? Easeful is every sense of the word.

STYLE GUIDE

Lots of Leather

Typically a fabrication that gets a ton of play in the fall season, spring’s iterations of leather statement pieces lend a more structured note to the silhouettes du jour (not to mention a bit of trans-seasonal practicality). A perfect, mushroom-hued moto jacket stood out at Burberry just as a cherry red longline version did at Hermès, while all eyes were on an emerald green suit—mesmerizingly done up in the grounding material—at Ferragamo.

That One Piece

The Tumi Packing Case

Get ready to set off in style.

The Installation

CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN PALMER ALLEY

Every spring, CityCenterDC devotees and District visitors flock to see Palmer Alley’s iconic installation: a plethora of pink lanterns floating high over the boutiques, the warming winds lifting them with every breeze. As of this year, a new artistic addition with a storied D.C. history—the cherry blossom—has been elevated amongst these dancing lanterns. Gifted to the city in 1912 by the people of Japan, cherry trees and their breathtaking blossoms represent renewal and vitality, just as the spring season flourishes. But much like the real blooms themselves, this installation is a fleeting one, so carve out some time to immerse yourself in the beauty and snap some feed-worthy pics while you’re at it.
