All eyes were on fashion’s biggest night as the planet’s most notable stars made their mark on the Met Gala 2024.
Co-chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour along with Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Lopez, the red carpet yielded plenty of striking looks worth talking about. Here, we delve into three of the top trends from the evening.
Green with Envy
When the night’s theme was so clear—“The Garden of Time”, based on a 1962 short story of the same name—it was safe to say that the color green would make a major appearance. Stunning and highly wearable shades of olive, pine and asparagus were spotted across the style spectrum on Zendaya, Elsa Pataky and Gabrielle Union.
Flourishing Florals
Florals for spring? Indeed groundbreaking, especially when this year’s Met Gala theme so heavily leaned on beautiful blooms. Starlets like La La Anthony dressed by Alexander McQueen and Karli Kloss dressed in Swarovski took a more subtle approach with garden-variety prints while more audacious types like Precious Lee, Nicki Minaj, and Lana Del Ray and Gigi Hadid went all out in 3-D embellishments.
Into the Wild
The perfect complement to the ever-present flora? Fauna. Attendees leaned into animalistic elements in a range of eye-catching ways. Some standout moments included Gabrielle Union’s sequins adorned take by Michael Kors and Iris Law in dressed by Versace. It was proof that going wild could land you on the best-dressed list.
