Conrad Washington DC is celebrating the annual blooming of the Cherry Blossoms with a parasol activation designed and installed by local architect and artist My Ly.
The Japanese parasols serve as a nod to the famous flower, which were a gift from Japan in 1912, representing the enduring friendship between the two nations.
In the Japanese culture, parasols hold deep historical and aesthetic significance. They are not only used for protection from the sun and rain but also play an important role in performing arts such as kabuki and tea ceremonies, symbolizing grace and refinement.
